DIY Costume Ideas For The Budget Conscious

Hola!
With Halloween right around the corner; I know how expensive it can be, so if you are looking to save some money, DIY (Do-It-Yourself) may be something you want to consider.  So here are ideas to create your very own costumes.

Here are my top picks (not in order):

> Where's Waldo: Red hat, red and white striped shirt, jeans, and glasses.
 > Mummy: Gauze, and some greens & greys make up under the eyes (to create the "molding" effect).
> Ballerina: Tutu, leotard or tights, and flats.
> Librarian: Glasses, Collared shirt, pencil skirt, and some stilettos, baby!
> Hippie: Pretty much just wear anything with tie dyed patterns, bell bottoms and throw in some Peace sign and you're all good!
> School girl: Collared shirt, plaid skirt, knee high, neck tie, and flat shoes.
> Barbie: Wear everything pink if you can, a blonde wig, if you're not already.
> Baby: Adult onesie, pacifier, teddy bear or a blanket
> Ghost: The easiest of all costumes, plain white blanket. Cut out some holes for the eyes and to add some dramatic effect, try outlining the eyes with a black marker or for the ladies, even try adding eyelashes!

> Witch & Cat: Either you want to go sexy or simple, everyone has a black dress or anything black.. For the witch, just add a wig & pointed hat. For the cat, draw on some whiskers and black nose, pointed ears and tail.

Where to look:
> In your very own closet
> Your parent's
> Thrift store
> Halloween stores (Party City, Spirit. Also try Target and Walmart!)

*Good luck & if you have your own ideas, please share them!

  1. Great suggestions! Depending on your closet, a golfer could be an easy one too.

Mine was a bit labor intensive, but last year I got a white shirt from the thrift store and some tape & black spraypaint from Walmart to make a referee shirt. I already had the black shorts, long socks, and shoes. I even got the iron on letters and spelled REF.
